The second stakeholders’ workshop was held in Marondera on April 10th, 2019. The Consultant presented the options of intervention for 2025, 2030 and 2040 scenarios, related to the Water Resources Management and the Water, Wastewater and Solid waste works. The open discussion with the Stakeholders provided inputs for the development of the Master Plan.

The Consultant commissioned to EMA the water quality sampling and testing. Samples are taken in different points of the water and sewage networks to assess the current condition of the system in this season.
Field activities30 October 2018
The team completed the Socioeconomic Household Data Collection. The purpose of the survey is to contribute to the baseline assessment for WASH: the survey results will assist in shaping some project activities, as well as provide a baseline for measuring project impact at its conclusion.
First stakeholders workshop4 October 2018
BETA Studio JV, together with international and Zimbabwean experts, organised the first stakeholders workshop for the “Marondera Integrated Urban Water Management Master Plan” Project. Many stakeholders from different Local and National Authorities attended the workshop in Marondera. The stakeholders’ engagement is a fundamental step for the development of the project. The results achieved during the first 6 months of the project were presented, including the current situation of the water and sanitation infrastructures and of the solid waste, the urban planning, the social and environmental aspects. The results of the immediate needs (detailed design of the urgent measures) provoked special interest. An open session in the afternoon involved the stakeholders discussing on issues that are the basis for the development of the next activities, i.e. the definition of alternative project scenarios, that will be presented within 6 months.

The Consultant delivers the “First findings Report” as requested by the Client. The report presents the first findings of the work carried out regarding water resources, water supply and sanitation systems.
Kick-off meeting23 March 2018
The kick off meeting between the Client, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate of the Republic of Zimbabwe (MoEWC) and the representative of the JV BETA Studio – Ingegneri Riuniti – Z&A –– Kogussho is held. The project engineer, Eng. Mpala, presents the project background, expectations & outcomes and the JV representatives illustrate the Project Methodology, the First Findings of the initial activities and the Work Plan.

The JV BETA Studio – Ingegneri Riuniti – Z&A Consulting Engineers –– Kogussho Consulting signs the contract with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate of the Republic of Zimbabwe for Consulting Services “Developing an Integrated Urban Water Management Master Plan for Marondera Municipality”.
